Love, Not Loans - Dedication, Not Debt
The leadership of New Hope strongly discourages online giving which leads to personal indebtedness. For that reason, please note that credit cards are not being accepted as a means of making your tithe offering. This is because we believe that the Scripture tells us to return to God a tithe, or ten percent of all He has given us for it is “Holy.” (Leviticus 27:30 “A tithe of everything from the land, whether grain from the soil or fruit from the trees, belongs to the LORD; it is holy to the LORD.”) This is to be our firstfruits, the first portion of all we have. (Numbers 18:12 “I give you all the finest olive oil and all the finest new wine and grain they give the LORD as the firstfruits of their harvest.”) A tithe charged to a credit card, forestalls the giving of the first of our increase, puts the giver into debt, (Romans 13:8a “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another,…”), and there is interest charged to what is to be held holy. (Ezekiel 48:14 “They must not sell or exchange any of it. This is the best of the land and must not pass into other hands, because it is holy to the LORD.”)
